A couple of weekends ago, we headed up to Rusk where they were having a “Day out with Thomas.” Thomas has been one of Nathan’s favorite characters for the last year and he and Kayla had a great time. This was a huge deal for Rusk (home of the Texas State railroad) as they were expecting between 10 and 15 thousand people over a 3 day period. They were given a chance to try this public/private partnership in order to bring in tourists and money as the Texas legislature has threatened to pull the railroad’s funding and make it a stationary monument. Anyway, Rusk seemed like a neat little city and we all had a good time.
